A WALK IN THE PARK

Joe and I were walking the path at Coolen Park in Renton when I got this lucky shot.

Usually the bee will get away just before I take the photo.

Writing 151 10/3/1989

Dear Cafeteria Person

Being noticed seems to be the reason you exist.
Elongated florescent fingernails
Magenta extensions combed through blonde, black rooted hair
Difficult to ignore
You've learned to live with claw like fingernails
Scratched an itch without drawing blood
touched the corner of your eyelid with a knuckle
Smart move....bleeding eyes are so unpleasant

It may be time for you to take inventory of the
contents of your black book bag
Books on typing and guitar?
Cut your nails
Or, get a refund.

P.S. Why is there a gigantic space between these two entries.   I need to get a Blog For Dummies book.

Changes in Liturgy

During his homily Father Ryan talked about the greatness of the liturgy at St. James. He then suggested ways to improve it, one of them being "Don't leave after communion."  Oh dear, guess who had to leave early.
As I was leaving I passed the Sacristan and said, "Not a good day to be leaving early."  he laughed and said " I'm telling Father Ryan."
Our name card in the music room has a prayer printed on it. The words are the same as the one I learned in grade school. I wasn't positive so I opened my cedar chest and found the first communion prayer books that Joe and I used as children. I attended St. Anthony School in Renton. Joe attended St. Dorothy School in Chicago.
Both books had the prayer with the "new" words. Interesting.

Father Ed White, pastor at St. Stephen the Martyr talked about changes as well.
"How many Catholics does it take to change a light bulb?    Change?  Change?

Blog by Zoey

                                             Zoey has landed!
This weekend I enjoyed a cup of tea by the warm firelight with my beloved Grandparents.
JK  This week I accomplished absolutely nothing by sleeping 22 hours a day and playing video games for the other two. Eating was optional.
I'm too lazy to write any more so  "Bye"

Cape Disappointment

Our visit to the cape was beautiful. Many bird sightings..good beach walks , great views of lighthouses,
McKenzie Head and McKenzie lagoon.

Had a peaceful, wonderful birthday with my best friend, Joe.

The photo of the falcon was captured by Joe.

The flaming lighthouse photo is mine.

Happy Birthday Mike

I remember Mike's birth well. I was under the influence of drugs and invited every person within hearing distance to my birthday party.

Mass at St. James 9/11

There are times when I become distracted during mass. Today was not one of those times.
The music, homily, participation...all  inspiring.
The lighting of the candles has never been one of my favorite things since I ruined a coat (Taize service) and got a glob of wax on my robe during Holy Week.

Today was different..Looking out from the east, viewing  the lit candles and especially, .listening to the silence, ....unforgettable.

Time Goes By.....rolls on

I had a birthday card ready for our son Mike but decided to make him one that really suits his interest.
Mike builds his own bicycles...has one he can fold and fit in a case for air travel. A clever man like his father.
This is one of the bikes Mike created.

The Gift that keeps on giving

Not sure of the exact date, but at least forty years ago I was given a fig tree.  The woman who gave it to me was a family friend named Lisa. I sang  for her husbands funeral and did not want a fee. She gave me the fig tree that her husband had readied for planting. She called it "Charlie's Tree".

Each year we get a bounty of delicious figs.  Granted the birds get there share but always enough to eat and give away.

Lady Gaga.....a relative?

I'm always trying to get rid of stuff so my kids won't have to spend the rest of their lives sorting through my treasures. I was going through photos that I found in my Grandmother's (Nonna Torlai)  trunk. I found a photo of a young man that closely resembles Lady Gaga at the Music Awards Show.  She was made up to look like a man.
It was not identified but it was in family photos and looks like it was taken in Italy.

I'll post it when I can figure out how to do it. (which may be never)

Joe posted it for me.
