What a Blessing

Sami and Alex were confirmed last evening at Our Lady of Guadalupe church.
Archbishop Sartain seemed comfortable in the casual setting.

The choir was filled with spirit.  I will refrain from any criticism as most of those in attendance thought they were great.
I am such a spoiled chorister!  The music was all new to me so I softly sang as I sight read the music.

The highlight for me was seeing Sami and Alex receive the sacrament.

John was able to be there though he was in some pain. He was proud of his family. Kelley was a sponsor for another student. She had been to every class and was serious about her role.  It was so good to see her and all the family.

Archbishop gave an inspirational homily...it would be nice if he inspired some of those confirmed to a higher calling.

On a lighter and less important note.....the cake was delicious!

Into The Woods

I noticed this flower on my way to work.

What a day!  Joe started work bringing in the logs early...I went to help about 9:40a.m.
Within  a few minutes, I was fired, rehired, and allowed to hook up a cable. ( Does this make me a hooker?)
My main job is to push the button on the winch to either bring in or let out the cable. Joe was in the woods
and I would listen for his signal. This is not easy since car motor is running, winch is noisy, and plane was flying over.
Of course I was in trouble for not stopping the cable soon enough....that's when I was told to go back in the house!  This didn't last long, I decided to stand farther away from the winch so I could better hear the master's  commands. As soon as I could see him he would give hand signals. This worked well.

I then became confident enough to go into the woods and hook up the cable.

We were able to do all we planned by lunch time.  Joe did most of the work but I like to think I was an important part of the process.

WORDS OF A CHILD WILL BE REMEMBERED

This morning Joe & I watched the gathering at the Cathedral in Boston.  The Governor spoke..Obama spoke..Both gave inspirational, hopeful presentations. However, the words of the young boy who was killed, said it best.

He was holding a sign he had made that said:

NO MORE HURTING PEOPLE

    PEACE

No more making whoopie on the deck

Joe and I are very spoiled as far as living in a lovely wooded area. We have always enjoyed our privacy but
this is coming to an end.
We allowed our neighbors to have several trees cut down last week. Later, as we were standing on the north side of our property we noticed how clearly you could see our deck....we'll have to be on our best behavior. No more changing clothes with blinds open, or pole dancing!

There will be 21 homes built in back of our property (west). Building will start in about a year. They have a sign right next to our driveway with a map etc. It is very confusing. We are getting inquiries from neighbors concerned that we are selling our property. We spent 2 hours at Renton city Hall waiting to speak to planning  person about moving the sign closer to the development site. The woman Joe spoke to said the sign should be 350 feet away. Well, our driveway is longer than that! We then wasted time talking to the developers. They claim City of Renton made them put the sign up at that location. The man Joe spoke to was very buddy buddy, every concern was answered to appease us. Would you like to sell? is always a part of the conversation.

We have been very fortunate to be able to live here and hope it will continue." Lord willin' and if the creek don't rise."

If I won the lottery.....

Yes, if I won the lottery I would set up cameras all around the house to see what goes on while we sleep.
Last night I heard an owl ...have heard coyotes in the woods..seen tracks in the yard of many different shapes and sizes. Wouldn't it be fun to actually see the critters at work.
There is a problem. It is rare to win the lottery...especially since I never buy a lottery ticket.

Maybe it is more fun just to imagine what is happening, e.g.

A few years ago, we were in Yellowstone  We watched wolves in Lamar Valley. It was exciting to see them in their natural habitat . This was a view from a mile away ( with a scope) but it seemed so close.

We were told later, that after we left, the wolves attacked an elk and had lunch. I'm glad I missed that.

Easter Monday

First and foremost.........

I want to salute the women of Schola for their faithful service to St. James.

I mentioned to Phyllis that I thought they were Saints. She said, "We're sisters."

With that in mind I would like to call Schola.. The Sisterhood of the traveling Chants.

Enjoyed all Holy Week services but I have to admit that it was great to spend the afternoon with our family.
It was especially enjoyable since I didn't have to do a thing.
I did try to create a gluten free strata..it was less than successful. Flavor was good ...texture was like mush.
Luckily I brought Deb a lovely hydrangea so I didn't feel near as guilty.
