Many Falls

As we were admiring Multnomah Falls I heard a young woman say, "We were at Zion National Park and there was a crowd, but nothing like this, I don't get it...just water falling over rocks!"
To each his or her own. I've been to Zion National Park and it is amazing, but this does not take away from the beauty of Falls.

Speaking of Falls....we camped at Silver Falls State Park. There is a trail that leads to 10 Falls. we didn't make it to all of them but  what we reached were impressive.
The park itself is a massive wooded area. The Falls are a bonus.
The Falls with very little water is called Winter Falls.   I'm sure they all have more water in the winter. How beautiful it must be surrounded by snow!

Astoria....on the Trolley

We decided to ride the trolley..a first for us. There is a great walk along the water and trolley stops along the way.
We were looking for birds  but didn't really see anything new.
We did find out facts about Astoria.  It was compared to San Francisco's Barbary Coast, for kidnapping  young men to work on ships.  The evil doers would slip them a mickey when they were in the tavern. There was a trap door  where they would  be tossed and then put on the ship to work for a year.
According to the information we were given, the record for kidnapping was worse then the Barbary coast.

                                         My favorite sign in Astoria

On the lighter side they talked about Hollywood . One of the homes was used for Kindergarten Cop with Arnold S.   They talked about other films but I lost interest since I had seen none of them.

Larch Mountain

Larch Mountain is a non-active volcano that offers a viewpoint where you are able to see five mountains. Mt. Rainier, Hood, St. Helen, Jefferson and Adams. Here are a couple to give you an idea of the view. Drive to parking lot. Easy walk ( unless you're our age) to top.
