Tree House Down!

We were a little worried when we were unable to spot the tree house through the trees with binoculars.
James was up yesterday to help out and I asked him to check it out. He came back with the sad news. Tree house is gone. It is a pile of rubble.
He took a photo but I was having trouble figuring out how to move a photo from e-mail to my blog so decided to take my camera and walk. James cleared the trail so I didn't walk into any nettles but it is a little steep for grannie so I held on to branches and made my way down and up the trail.
This is what I found.

Your life in 60 minutes..

This lovely couple spent the afternoon with us yesterday. Maureen is doing research on family history of St. James parishioners( seniors). Ted, her husband, here to accompany his wife.

It is difficult to answer questions about your life. So many avenues to search. In addition you have to tend with senior moments, when the facts take an escape route for a time, pop in when the quiz is over.
It might be easier if you had a list of questions and a preparation time before the interview.  Maybe they want to hear what you are thinking without giving you time to think. Does this make sense?
We will have an opportunity to revisit the information and delete when necessary.
I'm worried that I didn't give equal time to each of our remarkable children. Each, talented, bright, well loved by Joe and me. We also have nine grand children that we love and cherish. Is pride a sin? If so, I am in need of forgiveness.

Ted and Maureen are extremely well educated and have a remarkable family.
Some day they will be interviewed and proud moments will come forth.

Mother's Day

The best part of my day is hearing from each of our children.  I appreciate the fact that it reached 100%. I received a lovely post card from England and a phone call from James and Meagan. They phoned yesterday as they would not be able to call today as they are hiking in the wilderness.
Steve phoned yesterday as he was afraid he would forget. ( that sounds like his mother)
Svetlana sent a lovely card via internet. Liz also sent card and is working on pottery that I may receive if it works out.
Joe phoned yesterday also. He gave me a choice of a Mariners game or Debs old phone. As much as I love the Mariners, I opted for the phone if he shows me how to use it.
I can't see having him drive from Kenmore to take me to the game and then back etc. Too much.
Deb sent a beautiful card via regular mail.
John sent a text message and then called. Today is Kristen's birthday. John built some planters to fit on their railing for herbs.
Mike was the last to phone. He went for a bike ride and then plans to go to a movie.
It was a good day.
Lots of good wishes on line as well.

Where has the time gone?

We just cancelled our reservations for summer camping. We decided it was a wise decision.
Hopefully we will take a few trips in our car.
Our first camping trip was not logged so I'll give you what I remember.
1956
We camped at Sol Duc Hot Springs. Steve and Joe were still in diapers. We camped in a tent,  cooked on our Coleman stove. When we needed light our Coleman lantern did the job.
Aunt Edythe had given each of the boys a red outfit. Very warm except where the two parts met.
I was forever pulling the shirt down or the pants up.
It rained and rained. Keeping Steve and Joe out of the puddles was impossible. Wet shoes, wet clothes and of course wet diapers. This was before disposables.
The Ranger suggested we head for the ocean where the weather was better.
We followed his suggestion and discovered the joy of camping near the Pacific.
Apparently I didn't even think of keeping a log until 1972 when we traveled to Chicago in our camper, towing our VW.
Let's see what I remember of the missing years.
Places we camped:
Deception Pass
Ohanepecosh
Staircase
Heart of the Hills (Olympic Peninsula)
Lake Wenatchee
Peregine Lake
Lake Chelan
Alta Lake
