A Midsummer Night's Dream in Tumwater
Although it was a nightmare driving to Tumwater on a Friday night...it was worth it.
I love to see young people, in this case High School Students, in plays. Even if they are not all
destined for stardom, I figure they are staying out of trouble and having some healthy fun.
The audience was entertained and many proud of their children. I was impressed with all the dialogue they had to memorize. Lots of action ,energy and bruises involved. Very physical production.
Our Grandson, Ian, was Bottom. Ian charmed the audience with his talent and charm. I know what you're thinking, she's prejudiced.
Isn't that the job of a Grandparent?

The Uglies Are back.
Snow is so fickle. Beautiful, then changes to "Snirt" (dirty snow)
Our place is a combination.
The woods are still pretty, as is the back yard.
A downed alder branch was food for the deer.
The field resembles an ice skating rink.
The rest is ugly. Branches strewn everywhere. Dirt covering snow from being shoveled and power lines down!
Steve brought wood from a tree in his yard.( Just missed the hot tub).
A gift of wood from Steve is a beautiful thing!

Personality of Snowy Trees
La De Da
I'm depressed
Problems with my metabolism. I eat the same as the other trees but the snow just clings.

A Snowy ,Showy Day
Thanks to Joe,( putting the snow tires on our truck and filling the back with wood) we were able to attend mass, and enjoy "West Side Story" at the Paramount.
Liz picked us up at St. James and drove us to the Theatre. It was snowing so it was a bit of a challenge to walk without slipping and getting sopping wet. Joe and I both had umbrellas that Liz said should be thrown into the nearest dumpster, but we managed.
We all enjoyed the show, even Zoey, who pretended to be punished by being there.
I forgot to mention to Joe that it was a "Romeo and Juliet" story . Joe is a Hallmark kind of man so was a little disturbed by the ending.
We all loved the show. Dancing was great. Singing was entertaining. Male lead was especially good.
Thanks to Liz (tickets were gift) we had a great time. When we left the Paramount the snow had taken a break and we were able to enjoy the gift of nature on all the trees. It was beautiful driving to the parking lot, lovely around the Cathedral, and when we arrived home our woods looked like scenery from a fairy tale.
Thank you snow, for covering up all the weeds and leafless trees with splendor.
I forgot to mention that our truck was covered with at least 4 inches of snow.We cleaned it off (mostly Joe) with our umbrellas!

A Day to Remember
This is my third attempt at writing about our family gathering on New Years Day. For some reason when I reached a certain point my finger hit enter and all the information was destroyed.
Is someone trying to give me a message?
It was great to see all the family. Meagan was missing due to the flu ,but she was well represented by the video of her sawing a huge log with the Forest Service. The amazing Meagan.
James mentioned that Ian and Dylan made a video (without his knowledge) about his Christmas gift. He said it was hilarious so I asked him to share it with the family. He did and he was correct. It was a little raunchy but very funny. Liz wrote a poem (during dinner) about growing up with five brothers. Liz is a talented writer and also very funny. Tricia told a story about one of her lab partners who was the life of the party, then the next day was told that none of his work would be used because he was so out of control. Funny but sad!
Joe (son) and John H. both told funny jokes. Zoey did a good job singing. At her age I was still shy about singing in front of family. Good for Zoey.
After all the silliness was completed, I was asked to sing. It seemed rather inappropriate but I sang "Mary did You Know" A rusty voiced version, but family was appreciative. Actually, they just wanted dessert.
That's about it. We had a few visitors, always nice. No photos..too busy. I didn't even think about it until people were half way out the door. I did take a photo of my Christmas cards which I will post later.
