While putting back chairs etc. in building Joe mentioned seeing an old sewing stand that I had painted green in an attempt to make it look antique. By this time it probably is an antique. I brought it out today, cleaned it, and gave it a place of honor!
Joe also showed me the parts to the Morris chair and decided it wouldn't be that difficult to repair.
If this happens it will make me very happy. We shall see.
The color is not quite as gruesome in person!

James and Meagan Christmas Gift
Each year James and Meagan give us the fantastic gift of yard work for Christmas.
Today James helped Joe while Meagan took on the job of clearing the trail to the tree house.
Meagan does not mess around. She volunteers clearing trails for the Forest Service and believe me, she knows what she is doing. Now, if anyone wants to take a nature walk to the tree house the path has been cleared by an expert.
James tackled mowing the evil hill which is very difficult for Joe. then he helped move all the tables, chairs and odds and ends for the picnic. He also spread fir bark.
This evening as we rested on the deck, we had two fawns in the yard. They were in the front yard first, then to the back towards the woods. They looked at the newly cleared trail but chose to find their own. They don't exactly stand still for a photo.

Entertainment nature style
We are going a little crazy preparing for our family and friends picnic.
There is only so much you can do ahead of time. The hot weather is slowing us down a bit and we are
getting a little cranky. Then nature enters and gives us a laugh or an inspiration. Something else to think about besides work is always a good thing.

Do not put any more food in freezer!
I cleared the excess ice out of the freezer and vowed not to add anything else to the bounty.
So, I decide to use my basil before the deer destroy. It started out fine until I added garlic which must've been from the land of extremely strong and then some. I kept adding more greens. I added Italian parsley, arugula, kale etc. Still strong. Then I added some cheese from Italy ( not your normal
variety). I had to dig out the peppers!
When it comes time to use it I may add goat cheese. I should've thought of that sooner.
Guess where I put the pesto?
This morning I made Italian Hazelnut cookies. Guess where I put the cookies?
The freezer!

More photos from Virginia City, Montana
This car is still in use. The owner is sitting on the porch in a later photo.
Did you ever wonder what happens to the antlers the elk exchange for new every year?
Tour anyone?
This is the owner of the fabulous old car.

How old I feel. I have an iron like this one. Just have it, don't use it!
I think my Dad had a paper dispenser like the one in this photo. He used it to wrap the cheese.
I think my waist was bigger when I was born.
I have a lantern like the one on the left.
This is one of my favorites. It's a dentist chair. How comfy does this look?

Going fishing!
Joe was parked quite a ways away so I felt pretty stupid while people watched and wondered why this old lady was risking life and limb for a pelican. Well, that's just the way I am!

Flowers and Salad
The flowers in Yellowstone are not spectacular but when you look at the rocky sandy soil you wonder how anything grows.
Glacier has wild flowers that are spectacular. I'll never forget the Highline hike.
The flowers waist high and so colorful.
This is the salad I packed in our lunch bag. It was so refreshing in the heat. After that we were lucky to have a sandwich and an apple. then we found Canyon village. Great wraps. Vegetarian, some gluten-free. I was surprised at that but they have a lot of visitors and have to please the public.
Most of the flowers I have seen before but it is interesting to see the time of year and growth depending on the severity of the winter.

Photos
I can stop driving for a day!
I think this is called a statice..probably intrusive but I brought some seed home . We'll see what happens.
I wonder as I wander.
Love these rocks.
One of the available activities at Yellowstone.
Waiting for Old Faithful to erupt.
Did I already post this? Oh well.
