We just cancelled our reservations for summer camping. We decided it was a wise decision.
Hopefully we will take a few trips in our car.
Our first camping trip was not logged so I'll give you what I remember.
1956
We camped at Sol Duc Hot Springs. Steve and Joe were still in diapers. We camped in a tent, cooked on our Coleman stove. When we needed light our Coleman lantern did the job.
Aunt Edythe had given each of the boys a red outfit. Very warm except where the two parts met.
I was forever pulling the shirt down or the pants up.
It rained and rained. Keeping Steve and Joe out of the puddles was impossible. Wet shoes, wet clothes and of course wet diapers. This was before disposables.
The Ranger suggested we head for the ocean where the weather was better.
We followed his suggestion and discovered the joy of camping near the Pacific.
Apparently I didn't even think of keeping a log until 1972 when we traveled to Chicago in our camper, towing our VW.
Let's see what I remember of the missing years.
Places we camped:
Deception Pass
Ohanepecosh
Staircase
Heart of the Hills (Olympic Peninsula)
Lake Wenatchee
Peregine Lake
Lake Chelan
Alta Lake
