T
I was so impressed by this young woman!
                                  This was in Florence, Oregon

Tea room in Florence

Loved this place.

The tables were rather close so we had a conversation with a couple sitting near us.
They were also celebrating 60th. anniversary this year.

The tearoom may have served vegetarian. I know they had Blueberry Trifle made with tofu. It looked delicious. I was too full to try it.

More photos

Clear enough to see in person.
                                  Foggy is as foggy does!
I was getting tired of the fog so I took a photo of a photo posted on the trail!

Yaquina Head Lighthouse Ranger Boy

Joe set up his scope near the rocks that are home to many nesting cormorants. We spotted one feeding three rather big babies.

The young volunteer  identified a vessel as a submarine.
Joe checked it out. It was a tug boat towing a barge!  Joe didn't correct him. We later had a good laugh over his expertise.

Cape Perpetua etc.

Although my entire being is not as yet present I will attempt to write a few highlights and perhaps lowlights of our trip.  Is lowlights actually a word?

The road is long with many a winding turn ( recognize the lyrics).  Motorhome towing a car  from Renton to Cape Perpetua is at least a 9 hour drive. Since I am incapable of driving  this combination,
all the driving is done by Joe. By the end of our trip he was ready to turn me in for a newer, younger, more daring partner. We also had problems with the carburetor. Every time we drove up a hill it would sound like a battlefield of shots.

Now for some highlights.
A short drive up the hill from our campsite is the lookout built during the second world war. This is the view of the Oregon coast when the sky is clear.

This is the view in back of our site. Love the  sound of the creek at night.

This is view of the woods in back of site.

And site was level!  A rate occurrence.

What constitutes a successful marriage?

Since Joe and I will be married 60 years on Nov. 25, we are suddenly considered experts on the subject of marriage and how to make it work. This leads people to ask for advice.

First of all, I have no idea.

But I could venture a guess or two.

1.  There is a lot of luck involved. I remember praying  that I would choose the right man.
I'm sure many people prayed and ended up with a mismatch. So I still think luck plays a part.

2.  Similar values and goals.

3. You like each other...enjoy each others company.

4. Kindness, understanding,  patience and forgiveness.

5. Don't force a conversation when one is upset. wait until things settle down.

6. Of course love. but you can love someone and still not be happy married to him or her.

7. Never go to bed angry.

8.  I  think the  best advice would be, " Don't expect perfection. It is not going to happen".
