Nature can be cruel!

I checked  the nest today and all three eggs are missing. I saw a crow near our deck. Hmmm!
Three egg omelet?

  1. I have been following this tragic little saga with bated breath, and feared that it would not end well. . I have wrens on my porch every spring, and I never see the completed babies, although I know that they are there, at least initially. Last year, I had a moral crisis, when Tobias, who loves to sit on the enclosed porch, posed a danger to the birds. Whether to keep him in, off of his own porch?????? That seemed so mean, as the birds, while cuter, were actually invaders to his territory. I finally could not break his heart and crush his spirit by keeping him in. Happy to say, I never found any bird bits, so I am hoping it all worked out well for everyone.

  2. We once had a nest in a planter against the house. The birds hatched and eventually flew away. I wonder why we were so lucky that time?
