The many days of celebrating the birthday of Joe

On  Joe's Birthday we were joined for dinner with our friends Michelle & Chin. Always fun. I am unable to find the photo of Michelle, Joe, & Chin. Hopefully I will find and post later.
Next day, Steve & Svetlana visited with food for Pho. This included veggies of many colors.
Great visit, delicious food.
Another day, another treat. Joe & Deb brought delicious sandwiches from the all natural café.
One more drumroll please. John and Kristen were here yesterday with a delicious Beef Stroganoff . It was a layered dish with mashed potatoes on bottom and stroganoff on top. I think I forgot to take a photo!

A poem by John L. Torlai

On the ninth of March nearing the end of the day
My wallet I took for some gas to pay
Puzzled I was but very happy that
The lettuce inside made it thick and fat.

But lo and behold this morning at three
as I was awakened by the urge to pee
I walked by the table and what did I see

A note, shell out you tightwad ,was the quote
and signed by your appreciative daughters three.

The moral I've learned is before your wallet gets thick
Be sure that you've paid Bobbe, Judy and Slick.

Note from Slick:
The money was our wages from our work at Pike Place Market for Dad.

Another lovely Day!

John treated us to a gourmet feast of his barbequed ribs, corn on the cob and Kristin's famous potato salad. I made a healthy version of 24 hour salad and some less than healthy cookies, thanks to ready to bake to bake Toll House & Pillsbury. Kristin was on the job.

I think Meagan is telling a funny story or doing stand-up?
There she is, Meagan .  Thanks for all your help James & Meagan!
Joe just loves to pose for a photo!
                                  See, I told you so!

The forgotten family!

We have no water today. I walked up to the end of our driveway to talk to the men working on the development next to our property. The man told me to talk to the man in the Water Dept. truck.
"How long will the water be off." "All day"   "We were not notified."  "Where do you live?" "At the end of this road."  " Oh I'm so sorry I didn't know there was a house back there."  "So sorry" Do you need drinking water?" " No. we have drinking water." " I can send someone to the store to get you a gallon"  " Ok"  I only said yes because he seemed very sorry. ( probably afraid I would report his negligence!)  A few minutes later a young man came to the door carrying 2 gallons of water.

Joe was pretty upset. I made him laugh when I said, " It could've been worse, the water could've been turned off the day Joe drove from Kenmore to power wash the driveway!"

Brunette to Blonde

Thanks to our son, Joe and his power washer, our driveway has returned to it's natural color.
Amazing difference!  Thanks so much for all your hard work!

Cabaret etc.

I think I may be able to continue with my blog. I don't know what I  did but it works.
Let's see if this works.
Thanks to Liz. I'm back!

Just returned home from Seattle. Liz treated me to " The Cabaret"
What a fantastic show. Raunchy but the talent, story, musicians, all exceptional.

We sat Cabaret style at tables. By some coincidence, one of the women was in band at Lindberg with Liz!

Frog symphony

Spring must be near, I lay in bed at night  and enjoy the sound of the frogs in the pond.
When Steve was a young boy in school, a teacher asked him to name a beautiful sound. He said "Frogs".  She was  expecting him to say " My mom singing" (silly woman) She mentioned it to me expecting me to agree with her assumption that he was being a smart butt.  I told her I loved the sound of the frogs. End of discussion.

Battle with the squirrels.

After trying many bird feeders, we thought we had the answer.
Our latest feeder is equipped with fasteners that clip in and close off the entrance to the feeder.
The squirrels  managed to jump up on the feeder and loosen the top, Next Joe decided to use these strong rubber bands ( thick and strong) to help keep the lid on. This morning I noticed one side was loose.  I moved the band to a more secure location. I wait to see what will happen.
If the squirrel was a friend and wanted to meet for lunch I would say, " We'll squeeze you in between nothing to do and waiting to die."
