Fig Bread or figgy pudding!


           My first attempt  this month did not rise and were a gummy mess. I forced myself to eat some, then put in freezer, then removed and fed the wildlife. I've baked this before with success so tried to find out what I did wrong. I checked the expiration date on the baking soda...2002. That might do it.
I have no idea what key I hit to get this civilized lettering!

  1. Sometimes mysterious things happen when baking. When a newish bride, \ I made some cookies, from a tried and true recipe, and they were so vile that even the dog wouldn't eat them. We had a professor friend who was going to visit, and we were that he, who would eat anything, and once had eaten almost all the food I had prepared for a party, would eat them. He did. We stared in shocked disbelief.
